Red Bird Sky performed at The Station Pub in Kings Heath, Birmingham on Friday, 16.03.12 in a fundraiser event for Volunteer Services Overseas. The gig was a leaving party for a friend of Bernie's and helped raise the final funds needed as her contribution towards volunteering to work on a VSO project in Africa - it was a fun night too! Way to go!

Red Bird Sky were excited to perform in the Songwriter Showcase at the wonderful John Hewitt Bar whilst at this years Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival in late February and also played the PRS aftershow event on the Friday evening! In addition they hosted a well attended, participative workshop entitled - 'Saying "Hello" to the Cruel World: Embracing difficult issues in songwriting' , using the works of Gretchen Peters, Mary Gauthier and Katy Boyd, alongside some of their own tracks, to illustrate how songwriters can tackle even the hardest of issues and transform these experiences into songs!
-
After their short break from songwriting to focus on preparation for their Canada trip, Red Bird Sky are pleased that they are now back focussing on writing new songs - so be sure to keep an eye out on the site for developments.

The first three rough demos from the first Red Bird Sky album have arrived and can be heard on the player below - roll on the other seven!

Red Bird Sky's trip to Canada, in October, 2011, saw them performing in a mini-tour of the East coast which took in venues in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island before settling down to record ten tracks for their first album. The Shell Lane Studios in Malpeque Bay, P.E.I. Canada was their base for ten busy days of recording with Paul Milner (Producer), the great Dan Cutrona (on Keyboards and witticisms!) and stunning, local P.E.I. musicians Gordie MacKeeman (Fiddle) and James Phillips (Mandolin) adding a rainbow of musical colours! Mike put down all the guitar tracks and added bowed Bass to a number of the tracks. Now it's the eager anticipation and dreaded wait to hear the full, finished product!
